What is Microsoft Security Copilot?

It's the latest AI assistant focused on cybersecurity. Its main goal is to lift effectiveness and lower the friction of doing cybersecurity. It helps with a number of things, for example:

·         Detecting that an attack is underway as fast as possible

·         Looking for weak spots

The product is, of course, integrated with most of Microsoft's other security tools. Its main advantage is natural-language input — meaning you can ask questions in plain language, as if you were writing to a person.

1.      Copilot uses very advanced detection algorithms. They can pick up well-hidden threats that other tools might miss.

2.      Copilot automatically analyzes which attack is being run against you. That gives you a lot of valuable time to react.

3.      If you already use Microsoft security products, you'll be glad to hear Copilot integrates very well with them. The integrations include:

Cons of Copilot

1.     If you use security products other than Microsoft's, you won't be able to leverage the integrations — so you won't get full value out of Copilot.

2.     Copilot is hardware-hungry, so you'll likely have to upgrade some parts of your network.

3.     Copilot brings a new perspective on cybersecurity, so getting comfortable with its features may be challenging for you or your IT team. If you're considering investing in Copilot, plan for a longer ramp-up period.
