Why bother now?

The main reason is security. Once support ends, attackers will have practically unlimited time to find bugs in the system — and there are plenty — and exploit them.

The other reason is the new bells and whistles, a simpler user interface, and a modern design. Even if it'll take all of us a moment to get used to.

Do I have to deal with this right now?

Ideally, yes. If you have several employees, it's a good idea to give yourself time to roll out the change so you don't end up scrambling at the last minute, needing one more month of Windows 10 only to find out support ended yesterday. If you have fewer staff and you know they handle changes like this well, I still recommend moving over roughly six months before support ends.
