IT services price list, IT outsourcing rates — what will it actually cost?
IT market price fragmentation. If you've ever run an internal RFP for IT outsourcing, network management, or similar, you know…
The fragmented prices on the IT market
If you've run an internal RFP for IT outsourcing, IT management, network operations, or anything similar, you may have been surprised by the spread of prices on the Czech market.
I completely understand that companies looking for a new firm or person for their IT want to know what IT services cost.
IT service prices — it depends on…
Why are IT-service prices so different, who to pick, hypothetical category buckets, and other details — I cover them in this article. I tried to be as impartial as possible and not push my own boat :-).
One recommendation: if you're running an RFP for IT management or outsourcing, don't look only at the hourly rate. There's a lot of magic you can do with that.
How much do IT services cost?
Prices start at around 350 CZK/hour and end with large IT firms or narrowly specialized competencies at roughly 5,000–8,000 CZK/hour. Is it crazy? No, it isn't — and the rest of the article explains why, plus my subjective recommendation.
Think about what you actually need, your expectations and requirements
❓ How fast do you expect issues or requests to be resolved? ❓ How critical is having a backup if your IT person is sick or on holiday? ❓ Which technologies do you use, and what competencies will be needed? ❓ Do you need reporting, compliance? Do you expect seasoned veterans, or do you value the drive of a young IT pro?
It's up to you. More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better, and an IT freelancer at 400 CZK isn't necessarily a bad choice. It depends on your needs.
Sole trader — 300–900 CZK/hour
✅ Great price, no debate. ✅ Could be a real enthusiast with great competencies. ❌ Sickness or holidays can be a serious problem. ❌ Replaceability is usually problematic.
Smaller IT firm — 600–1,200 CZK/hour
✅ Decent price, often genuine IT gurus and enthusiasts. ✅ Replaceability — there's more than one person to help you. ❌ A sole trader at this price only makes sense for a one-off project where they have great skills, since they don't give you backup. ❌ Compliance, contracts & lawyers — this is hard. The firm has its processes, but usually doesn't have the resources or appetite for legal services or advanced compliance & security.
Mid-sized IT firm — 1,000–1,600 CZK/hour
✅ From the customer's perspective this is starting to feel relatively pricey, and the reason is simple: the firm is aware of plenty of other things that need to be handled. ✅ The firm often uses external suppliers for specialized work. ✅ No punk-rock approach. And no punk-rock simply costs something. That's how it is. If you're already larger, need processes and clear responsibilities, this is probably the ideal pick. ❌ A more expensive solution suited to larger companies with stable financials.
Large IT firm — 2,000–8,000 CZK/hour
If you expect very specialized competencies, a team of great lawyers on the other side, or fancy offices, this is where it starts getting expensive.
❓ Why? Try finding an Oracle or BlackBerry-services expert… I know — they're hardly there, hence the high price. On top of that, the IT pros and staff on the other side are expensive too. ✅ Excellent competencies — but only in a specific segment. ✅ You're a corporate client and want IT support across the world? Only global service providers can help. We work for them in CZ as subcontractors. ❌ Don't expect them to help with everyday IT — they simply don't do that. They make sense for specialized competencies or for corporate clients.
The answer? Managed services [MSP] — yes!
✅ A model common worldwide that's only slowly catching on in the Czech Republic. ✅ Your IT partner takes responsibility for running your IT for a monthly retainer. ✅ Typically you won't be billed for "burned" hours — instead a clear price per device or per user. ✅ Together you pick a service mix that fits your company and matches its size.
🧐 Why? ✅ For the first time in a long time, the IT provider and the customer have the same interest = working, secure IT. If we do it badly, the service costs us more than we earn (we don't count hours).
⭕ Each customer suits a different mix of services that meet their needs and expectations. I'd say we have enough experience to identify your needs in 1–2 sessions.
💣 Hourly IT director?
What we do is run RFPs and internal IT under the hourly IT director service.
We have one condition: we then don't deliver any IT services — that's why the service looks relatively expensive at first glance, but real customer feedback suggests it could go up significantly. If you're a company with 30–250 people, this service is exactly for you.
✅ How much is it? 2,999 CZK/hour. ✅ Minimum 5 hours per month = 14,495 CZK/month for an IT director who'll deliver real value — a great price. ✅ We have 20 years of IT experience, both commercial and public sector.
