5 most important tech areas for 2024
Modern technology has changed — and keeps changing — how we live our personal and professional lives. From AI to remote work and much more. The trend is anything but stopping; if anything, the opposite.
Modern technology has changed — and keeps changing — how we live our personal and professional lives. From AI to remote work and much more. The trend is anything but stopping; if anything, the opposite. Today we'll look at the most important areas for 2024.
Artificial intelligence (AI)
The acronym AI is now familiar to everyone, for both good and bad reasons. AI is fundamentally changing some job functions and roles — for example data analysis, customer support, designing products and ads, and many more. AI also has its issues and downsides, so it has to be handled carefully and consciously. The biggest mistakes are: unreliable answers, misunderstood prompts, or — from the user side — bad usage and insufficient verification of the information AI produces.
Remote collaboration
We now take services like Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and many others for granted, but it wasn't always the case. Looking forward rather than back: the ability to do video calls, share data securely, and many more conveniences will definitely help if you need to collaborate with people who don't sit next to you.
Hybrid and remote work
Hybrid work and working from home aren't new, but they've become hugely popular over the past three years, largely thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. These ways of working bring lots of benefits:
· Higher productivity
· Lower costs
· Higher employee satisfaction
This model doesn't work for everyone, because it requires more communication, work ethic, and cooperation from the employee.
AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality)
Although this is a more niche category, it's worth mentioning. AR and VR allow employees to learn skills that are otherwise very hard to teach. These technologies are also used in product design for visualization.
Cybersecurity
Together with the development of all these useful technologies, cyber threats are evolving too. We need to keep up. Threats include stolen biometric data, AI-built programs and attacks, and a host of new phishing variants. I'll keep you posted on new defences and attack types as soon as I can.
